RollerCoaster Legends II: Thor’s Hammer – The Review

October 3, 2019 ·

There comes a time when you may just want to take a break and just experience everything without really having to do anything all. Sometimes just enjoying the scenery is as much fun as the journey. So what has War Ducks added this time in RollerCoaster Legends II: Thor’s Hammer? Let’s find out on this roller coaster of a ride through Asgard.

Roller Coaster Legends 2-1

RollerCoaster Legends II: Thor’s Hammer is the follow-up to 2017’s RollerCoaster Legends which is a Mythology based rollercoaster ride that will take you through some amazing places such as the Temple of Posiden and even the Palace of Hades. This time around, we get to visit another familiar place, Asgard. Yes, the mythical land of Loki and Thor.

This time around you have two choices. You can start the experience or you start the challenge. But before you can do the challenge, you have to do the experience first to unlock the challenge. Once you set your comfort level, get ready for a fun time. I really love how the Dualshock 4 controller is represented here.

I really do not want to spoil the ride through as you need to experience it for yourself. But I will say that going from inside to outside, you can almost get that feeling of the difference in temperatures and the sense of the powerful story of the journey of this Norse Mythology. After the ride, it is time to start the challenge.

So what is the challenge you might be asking? Well is something that I was not expecting, but surely is a welcomed surprise. As you go through, your job is to collect as many artifacts as possible all at the speed you are going. It does add to everything just to see if you have the skill to do it. I am not going to tell you how many there are, but there are plenty to collect and it was a blast to just ride through and do my best.

On my review of the first RollerCoaster Legendsmy only real complaint was the length. I wanted more of it. Even though RollerCoaster Legends II: Thor’s Hammer is shorter by just one minute, the challenge aspect more than makes up for it and just keeps me wanting to go back and wondering what is next for RollerCoaster Legends ride. Last time I stated I would love a ride through space with some UFO’s or aliens or even a ride through Egypt with some mummies or even Norway with some Vikings. Well, Warducks delivered on that request. So now I have to think about what they will deliver on for next time.

Sometimes in Virtual Reality, we love to get immersed in the action. But sometimes that immersion will take over,  put you in the back, and take you on the ride that you were not expecting, but really appreciate. And isn’t that why we enter the gateway to new worlds, to new experiences?

RollerCoaster Legends II: Thor’s Hammer is out now for PlayStation VR and is also available on the Oculus Store and Steam. A review copy was provided.

In case you missed the trailer, please enjoy. Until next time, I have more artifacts to try and collect.
