You May Not Want To Give The Oculus Quest 2 As A Gift For Anyone Under 13 Years Old…

January 4, 2021 ·

Parents, realatives, and friends most of the time try to make the children in our life as happy as can be when it comes to gifts. This can be for getting good grades, birthdays, or even the holidays. But one gift you should probably wait on for a child under 13 years of age is the Oculus Quest 2. Not because the child could not handle Virtual Reality gaming (or that very well could be the case as one needs to grow their VR legs) or even because they are the best thing ever, but because of Facebook’s requirement of having a Facebook account where you have to be 13 years or older. This doesn’t mean you cannot use your own Facebook account. This just means that if the child shares any screenshots or streams live to Facebook, it will just be under your account. Don’t want to share your Facebook account with your child, well, I wouldn’t just make up an account because if you do and Facebook finds out, you could risk having the account shutdown, and all purchased games possibly not being playable.

The other flip side to this is, if the child is 13 years or older, there is the social platform that, like any others platform, can be risky. You and whomever else is responsible for the child playing the Oculus Quest 2 should have a good understanding as well as talking to make sure everyone is on the same page. But just note as of right now, unless things change with Facebook, you really need to be over the age of 13 or just make sure any screenshots or gameplay footage is not shared as those can stay on the device. Then all you have to do is use the cable to then treat the Oculus Quest 2 as an Android device and transfer the images and video to your PC.
