Get Ready For The V29 Update On Oculus Quest & Quest 2…

May 20, 2021 ·

Updates are always fun. Sometimes they can just be minor security patches and other times, they can bring some big features and it looks like the v29 update is a pretty good one. For starters, a new casting feature called Live Overlay. It will allow you to look like you are in VR by layering your actual real-life self over what you are seeing in the headset. This is a pretty cool feature for those that like to be “in the game” per see, but you will need the Oculus App and iOS. Hopefully, this feature will come to Android users as well.

Next we have new office features that will help you stay productive while in VR. You will need an iPhone 7 or above and the Oculus app, but this will allow you to receive notifications through your headset including your lock screen notifications. There is also a new Files App that will allow you to enable you to upload, share, and really better manage your files while in VR. Also included in the v29 update, is a new Passthrough Environment so you can quickly see your surroundings. This will be a new icon that will be located in the Quick Settings.

I for one love these updates as it shows you how hard new features are being implemented and what the headset is really capable of. The v29 Update should be coming soon.
