If you are like many of us have had our PlayStation 5s and PlayStation VR2 that we have enjoyed since day one had their systems and hardware within the past year. There is nothing like playing your favorite games, whether on the T.V., monitor, or even a projector, or maybe diving even more into the deeper side of Virtual Reality. But there is one thing that we have all been through: how are we going to charge our DualSense Wireless controllers and our Sense controllers for PlayStation VR2?
When you think about it, you could go using the cables that came with your controllers while using available ports, or even the possibility that you could trip due to all the cables you may have lying around and take a chance that the hardware you paid for, could become damage from one fall that you were not expecting. Sure, there are official PlayStation charging stations for your DualSense controllers and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. Now that the controllers are charging, where will you put your PlayStation VR2 headset? On the floor? Maybe next to your T.V.? All valid choices, but what if you have an animal that knocks something over, something spills, or better yet, someone falls because of the cables lying around and then people will get angry? It is not something you want to risk, do you? Well, what if you could have your cake and eat it too? What if you could charge everything and have a place for your PlayStation VR2 headset without worrying about charging again? Well, you may need to if you are having a long gaming session.
For me, I have been using the official PlayStation Charging Station for my PS5 DualSense controllers, and for my PlayStation VR2 headset, I have been using the official PlayStation VR2 Sense Controller Charging Station and the KIWI design VR Stand as it allowed me to hold not only the headset but my PlayStation Pulse Elite Wireless Headset since the release of the PlayStation VR2. But there is something that I thought about, what if KIWI design had a slot at the bottom of their VR Stand where you could attach both charging stations and have the ultimate charging dock? So let’s look at the D2 Charging Dock from KIWI design and see how simple things can be.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————
Starting, with the simple box. You already know KIWI design makes great products and you are going to care about more of what is inside the box. Which, once opened, you see the D2 Charging Dock peeking out with two smaller boxes on the outside. Needless to say, they pack things pretty well.
Removing the side boxes, we see the dock base in all its glory. Up close, we can see the charging ports for both the DualSense controllers and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
Opening the side boxes, you receive the following:
- The PlayStation VR2 Headset Support
- The Main Support
- The Power Adapter
- Fastening Strap
- Magnetic USB Type-C Connectors
- User Manual
Connecting the main support to the base is very simple and, once you have made sure it is secure, add the PlayStation VR2 headset support. In looking at some different angles, you can see there is enough room for the controllers.
If you have the official PlayStation VR2 Controller Charging Station that you have been using, you will need to remove the USB Type-C connectors. As you can see, there is a difference in the size between the official PlayStation ones to the right and the KIWI design to the left in the first pic. Inserting the new connectors went in very easily, which I appreciate.
Once the power adapter is plugged in, the four indicators will blink for a few seconds. This indicates that the charging dock is ready to use. Once you add all the controllers, the light will be green for fully charged and red for charging, as well as the lights on the controllers as well. One thing I want to point out is with the magnetic USB Type-C connectors, the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers fit snugly in the ports and will not move, which is pretty impressive.
You will want to find a permanent location for the D2 Charging Dock as it does have some weight to it once everything is together with the PlayStation VR2 headset and controllers. This is not bad; it would take some force to knock it over, which should give you peace of mind. If there is one thing I wish would be added it is to the design of the PlayStation VR2 Headset Support. As it currently stands, there is not really enough room to place your headset when you are gaming. If you use the earbuds that come with the PlayStation VR2, all is good. But I tried to add my Pulse Elite headset and things got a little crowded, but I finally got everything to fit.
Overall, everything works as it should with no issues, and the fact that not only does the color scheme match the default PlayStation 5 colors, but the PlayStation VR2 color scheme as well, makes the D2 Charging Dock a very strong contender against the originals as well as others, if not the one of the best out there and should be on the top of your PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 accessory list.
The KIWI design D2 Charging Dock is available now and you can order yours now by visiting the KIWI design site.
