Get Ready For That v28 Software Update Wave…

April 13, 2021 ·

You gotta hand it to Oculus as they keep on and keep on updating the Oculus Quest and Quest 2 headsets and today is no different. It looks like v28 software will be coming soon and wow the list of features is pretty incredible.

First, we have Oculus Air Link coming to the Oculus Quest 2. Since the Oculus Link cable, you have been able to use your Oculus Quest and Quest 2 headsets as well, a PCVR headset. But what makes the Oculus Quest platform part of what it is…no wires. So it looks like Oculus is trying to take the “LINK” to the next level by allowing more options for the Oculus Quest 2 with Air Link. Basically, you will be able to play your PCVR games using your wifi, but need to be 20 feet from your wifi. If you want to charge your headset, experience the best visuals, or your wifi may be a little congested, then the Oculus Link is going to be your best bet. But in order to take advantage of Air LInk, both your PC and the Oculus Quest 2 headset will need to be updated to the v28 software.

Next, we have Infinite Office Updates. Want to feel more productive in your Oculus Home, then get ready to place a virtual desk on your real furniture so you work while being at home virtually. But don’t worry about moving away and having your boundaries be forgotten as they will automatically be saved so you can continue right where you left off.

Then get ready to pair your physical keyboard with your Oculus Quest 2. Not only will this give you better input, but is just one step closer to merging reality with VR. Not all keyboards will work, this will start in partnership with Logitech with the Logitech K830 keyboard.

And lastly, get ready for that 120 Hz support for the Oculus Quest 2. The Oculus Quest 2 natively supports 90 Hz, but soon developers can start to ship apps with the 120 Hz natively and just give an overall better experience with games along with the 90 Hz.

Keep in mind the update is not going to hit every headset all at one, but just gradually. Just be patient. Remember, good things come to those who wait.
