K4 Boost Battery Strap, H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap, & 45W USB C Fast Charger – The Review

October 29, 2024 ·

As Virtual Reality gamers, we hold specific expectations for the features of Quest 3 & Quest 3S. It’s happened to us all at some point. As we strive to find our comfort zone and immerse ourselves in the game, the warning of low battery for the headset forces us to pause and recharge. We think we can judge how long we might have, and then, when it happens, we go dark. Not because the moon is out, but the battery of our beloved headset just ran out of battery power. We want to comfort ourselves to be able to play for long periods of time, and not have to wait for what seems like hours upon hours to get charged back up so we can get back into what we enjoy the most. Enter KIWI design’s newest entries, the K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap & H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap.

K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap:

Let’s talk about the packaging for a moment. We have the image of the K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap, along with the simplicity of the rest of the packaging with the KIWI design logo on the top left and the description of the K4 Boost Battery Strap in the lower left of the packaging. In taking the slipcover off, you again have simplicity with the KIWI design logo in the center.

Inside the box, you will find the following contents:

  • K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap
  • User Manual
  • Warranty Guide

Installation is as simple as it gets. Remove the facial interface from the headset and set it to the site. Then gently remove both of the arms from your Quest 3/Quest 3S headsets and make sure you use the slightest of pressure. One thing you will notice is the washable cushion for the back of your head and how good it feels to the touch. You will want to attach the arms of the K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap to your headset. Also, you will notice the adjustable, well-built strap, so there is no need to worry about anything coming apart while wearing your headset.

Once you have the arms of the K4 attached to the Quest 3/Quest 3S, thread the top strap through the slot of the headset. Then install the facial interface back onto the headset, and connect the attacked USB Type-C connector to the charging port on the headset. You will notice that towards the back in front of the Back Fitting Knob, four LED indicators will display the power connection status, the battery level during charging & use, low power, & abnormal warnings.

H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap:

Next, we have the KIWI design H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap. As with the K4 Boost Battery Strap, the package is presents simplicity with the H4 Boost right in the middle, the KIWI design in the top left, and the description at the bottom left.

Opening the box, you have the following contents inside:

  • H4 Halo Boost Battery Strap
  • User Manuel
  • Warranty Guide

As with the K4 Boost, installation is pretty simple. First, you are going to remove the facial interface from your Quest 3/Quest 3S and then remove the arms from the headset, and attach the arms of the H4 to the slots of your headset. You will need to attach the fore clip to the slot where the head strap would usually go. And you might be thinking why? If you notice, the H4 Halo Boost has two self-adaptive cushions for the back and forehead. This allows for zero facial pressure and to have a custom fit. Also, don’t forget to attach your facial interface back to the headset. The Fore Fitting Knob provides an up-and-down alignment for a clearer experience all while keeping your head and face cooler for those long sessions or while you enjoy some movies while lying down and being as comfortable as possible.

And like the K4, there is also towards the back in front of the fitting knob, there are four LED indicators that will display the power connection status, the battery level during charging & use, low power & abnormal warnings. But I want to point out some additional points about the H4. There are two dials compared to only one. There is the Back Fitting Knob, which we all know will make everything feel more snug. But there is also the Fore Fitting Knob that provides an up-and-down alignment for a clearer experience, all while keeping your head and face cooler for those long sessions or while you enjoy some movies while lying down and being as comfortable as possible.

To top it off, there are some other benefits from the K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap and the H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap.

With the K4 Boost & H4 Boost Halo, the benefits include:

  • Extended Playtime with Enhanced Battery: Enjoy uninterrupted gaming with up to 3 hours of additional battery life; play longer without worrying about running out of power; tailored to your usage scenarios for maximum performance.
  • Dual Fast Charging & Two Times Faster: Power up both H4 Boost and Quest 3/3S simultaneously with the Dual Boost Charging system. Fully recharge both in just 2.5 hours, 5300 mAh (2650 x 2 cells), with a 45W adapter, delivering 25W power to your Quest 3/3S while charging the internal battery.
  • Zero Facial Pressure & Custom Fit: Adaptive front headrest design evenly distributes the weight of Quest 3/3S, reducing facial pressure and offering a comfortable fit for extended use, even without the facial interface; elastic side straps, adjustable top strap, and soft rear cushion ensure a secure fit for all head sizes, ideal for gaming, movie-watching, and productivity.
  • Adjustable FOV & All-Day Ventilation: The damping sider allows front-to-back FOV adjustments, while the headset lever knob provides up-and-down alignment for a clearer experience; the innovative ventilation design in the fore cushion keeps the head and face cool during long sessions.
  • Lie Down Comfortably: Integrated adjustment knob enables effortless fitting; enjoy total comfort while lying down on your couch or bed, making it easy to fully immerse yourself in gaming or movies with the H4 Head Strap on Quest 3/Quest 3S.

If there was anything that I would add to the mix is a way to integrate the K4 and H4 with the Vertical Charging Stand. Don’t get me wrong, you can still use the stand to display your Quest 3, but not use the USB C connector to charge. But, pay attention to the 2nd bullet point above. It says you can recharge both the K4 & Quest 3/Quest 3S in 2.5 hours simultaneously with the internal Dual Boost Charging System if using a 45W adapter. I wanted to put this to the test. I drained my Quest 3 and both the K4 & H4. I then opened the 45W adapter, and like everything else KIWI design does, the packaging was simple.

45W USB C Fast Charger:

Opening the box, you have the following contents inside:

  • 45W USB C Fast Charger
  • USB C to USB C cable
  • User Manuel
  • Warranty Guide

Because both the K4 and H4 have dual fast charging, that means you can plug them into the USB C port on your headset and then connect the 45W USB C Fast Charger to the USB C port on the underside of the battery strap. I tested both the K4 and H4 with the Quest 3 drained each and tested the dual fast charging with the charger. In just about 2.5 hours, not only was my Quest 3 showing that green light, but each of the four LED indicators was full, meaning I now could play longer while taking only the time I had to play to charge. And when you combine this with the G4 Pro Performance Controller Grips (which is a new Made for Meta product) and also the V3 Facial Interface, it’s a win-win situation.

Both the K4 and H4 felt secure on my head, and not one time did I feel like something was going to come apart. The fast charging is excellent thanks to the dual FD chips that allow the maximum output, the 10 integrated chips that help support simultaneous charging, and the 10+ protections to make sure that you have a high-quality cable and surge protection. KIWI design continues to do a fantastic job in enhancing, protecting, and simplifying your experience.

The KIWI design K4 Boost Elite Battery Strap, H4 Boost Halo Battery Strap, 45W USB C Fast Charger, and the G4 Pro Performance Controller Grips are available now or the Meta Quest 3/Quest 3S and you can get yours now by visiting the KIWI design site.

KIWI design is going to be doing a Free Gift event on its official site, where you can participate, and the lens protector will be available in early November at this event and will last until December 13th.
