KIWI design P5000 Compact Power Bank – The Review

by The VR Dimension

From the time we spend socializing to playing our favorite games, virtual reality is something we all enjoy. We all know how it feels when we first put on our headsets and get immersed, but before we know it, we all have that sad moment when we see the low battery warning, and we know it’s only mere moments before we have to return to reality.

Yes, battery straps can extend your headset’s playtime. Some of the options include the KIWI design Comfort Battery Head Strap – SPC and the KIWI design K4 Duo AI0 Audio Head Strap, which offers both extended battery life and an enhanced audio experience. However, even with these great options, one will still have to worry about their headset and head strap running out of power at some point, requiring a stop to recharge both for another session.

But what if you didn’t have to worry? What if you could keep playing, and all you need to do is swap out the battery for a new one so you can keep doing what you love? Well, KIWI design has been thinking about this, and they have come up with an additional solution to keep you spending more time having fun and keep you in the game even longer. Let’s take a look at the KIWI design P5000 Compact Power Bank for the Meta Quest 2, 3, 3S, & Pro, with features that include:

  • Up to 4.5–5 Hours of Total Playtime â€” Combining the headset’s built-in battery with two swappable 5000mAh batteries.
  • Universal VR Compatibility â€” Works as a reliable backup battery for all major VR headsets and supports a wide range of USB-C devices.
  • Lightweight & Comfortable â€” Each battery weighs just 105g, and even with the VR head strap attached, the setup is still much lighter than conventional battery packs.
  • Multi-Scenario Use â€” Beyond VR: perfect for action cameras, camping lights, selfie sticks, and other USB-C devices.
  • Safe & Certified â€” Features 10+ layers of protection, including overcurrent, short circuit, temperature control, and overcharge.
  • Secure Attachment â€” Reinforced hook-and-loop (Velcro) strap system ensures a stable fit on your VR head strap, even during intense movement.

As always, KIWI design delivers simplicity, and this includes their packaging as well.

Inside the packaging, we have the user manual, the 2×5000 mAh batteries, two of the mini charging docks, and the bracket with a Type-C male connector.

One thing to notice about the batteries and magnetic docks is that everything lines up perfectly. Another thing that you will notice is the nice-sized orange button on top of the battery. This is the unlocking button that you will use to remove the battery from the bracket.

On the side of the battery, we have what size the battery is along with the orange button that, when clicked, will show the battery indicator with the first light meaning that there is 25% of the battery left, second light meaning that there is 50% of the battery left, the third light shows that there is 75% of the battery left and the fourth and last light meaning that your battery is at 100%

The batteries again fit nicely in the docks. When plugged in, either through the dock or using the USB Type-C connector on the battery, you will see the battery indicators light up. The time to charge each battery is approximately 2 hours when connected to a fast-charging adapter.

Having the attached Velcro on the bracket makes everything secure. Next, plug the USB Type-C cable into the port on the side of the headset.

As you can see, everything lines up, and the dock is ready for the battery.

With the battery connected, you can see the light indicators display on the battery and also tell that it is powering the headset.

And remember, as you are enjoying your time in virtual reality, you won’t have to worry that when you see that low battery indicator from all the time you were playing, just know that another one is ready to go.

So overall, KIWI design has done another fantastic job and continues to do what they do best, which is make things simple. This setup works very well and should solve a lot of the battery power needs of users. But keep in mind that the power bank is not limited to only virtual reality, as you can use it to charge other compatible Type-C devices, such as phones, if you happen to be on vacation. Just remember to charge the power banks as well.
