PlayStation VR2 Can Now Experience More Greatness With and Possibly Without The PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter…

When the PlayStation VR2 launched, it was and still is a big deal. For the headset to have all the specs that are packed into it from the display to the vibrations, the way some games take advantage of the features can allow you to have a truly immersive experience. But there has always been this wonder if some of the PCVR and Quest games would ever come to PlayStation VR2 or, at least, use the headset and the features while experiencing the PCVR side of things.

Well, after the talks and discussion, the ability to use your PlayStation VR2 headset with a PC and experience even more games, the time has arrived. The PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter has finally been released, and honestly, it’s pretty fantastic that new players who have not yet dived into the PCVR games thanks to Sony and Steam. To use your PlayStation VR2 on a PC, you will need to make sure you have a couple of things.

First, you will need to make sure you have the correct PC requirements:

Second, you will need to download and install Steam. Then from within the Steam App, install SteamVR and the PlayStation VR2 App.

Third, you will need the PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter:

Simple enough. You will connect your PlayStation VR2 headset in front of the Adapter. On the back of the adapter, you will connect to your PC’s USB 3.0 port. Then connect a DisplayPort 1.41 cable to your graphics card Display Port. Next, you will plug the AC adapter.

Fourth, you will then need to pair your PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers to your PC using your PC’s Bluetooth.

And finally, once you have everything connected, you will need to set up your play area. Make sure you have some room so you don’t hit anything or anyone.

Now, you should have access to the massive VR library for you to enjoy.

But what if you don’t want to buy the PlayStation VR2 Adapter? What if you want to have your cake and eat it too? Well, it still may be possible, but there is something that your PC will have to have: a specific video card series. Which ones you might be wondering? Well, if you happen to have an RTX 2060 – 2080Ti or Radeon VII, RX 6000. or RX 700, you are in luck. The reason is that these cards have a VirtualLink port on them. If you have any of the following cards, you just saved yourself $59.99:

  • GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
  • GeForce RTX 2080
  • GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER
  • GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

  • Quadro RTX 6000
  • Quadro RTX 8000

AMD GPUs

  • Radeon VII
  • Radeon RX 6000
  • Radeon RX 7000

But there is something else to consider if you plan on using your PlayStation VR2 with a PC, and that is what features will be and will not be available.

  • Rumble
  • 4K Visuals
  • 110° Field of View
  • Finger Touch Detection
  • See-through View
  • Foveated Rendering
  • 3D Audio in Supported Games
