Wiped Clean—The Review

by The VR Dimension

If you could do what you could to help take down one of the most dangerous hitmen out there, would you do it? What if that meant you had to clean up the crime scenes, leaving no trail, no evidence behind? Do you think you could stomach it all, no matter how gory things became? It’s interesting when you think about it. But does the developer, Luminary Creations, show us what it’s like to enter and clean up the crime scenes? Let’s find out with Wiped Clean for PC VR.

Wiped Clean is a story-driven crime scene cleaning game where you play as an undercover agent piecing together a dangerous conspiracy. Use specialized tools to scrub away evidence, discover secrets, and navigate dark, gritty environments in your search for the hitman, Victor Kane.

So, before trying to clean all the crime scenes away, there are a few things that you will want to be aware of. First, make sure you have a little room. No need for any people, pets, or equipment to be damaged. Second, ensure the headset and controllers you use are fully charged or have high battery levels because you don’t want something to catch you and prevent your escape due to a forgotten charge and/or battery replacement. Third, I am not going to spoil anything for anyone. And finally, have some fun. With that said, let’s continue…

When you first start the game, make sure you go to settings and have everything set up the way you like it. Keep in mind that if you play sitting in VR, there is no option for standing or sitting. Once you have everything the way you like it, it’s time to wait for the call to see what you need to do.

When you arrive at the crime scene, you should inspect the entire place, as you might not know where the clues are or what stains need cleaning. This includes any garbage or bodies that need to be removed as well. Remember, no evidence is one of the objectives here. Cleanup tools include a power washer for those tough stains, a UV light for any hidden stains, and even a Roomba to help make the job even easier once obtained. More powerful tools can be obtained as you progress.

Each location is different and becomes a little spookier as you move from one scene to the other. As the scenes can become bigger, things can get a little challenging. Getting the bodies loaded onto your truck is a straightforward process, but sometimes they can slip out of your hands if you are not careful.

Now, let’s discuss the graphics and sound. Visually, the placement of the blood and bodies is effective, with the light reflecting off the blood creating a noticeable effect. While some may find the graphics less impressive compared to other titles, the game’s charm lies in its grungy, messy aesthetic, which suits the genre perfectly. With the sound, you have the eerie music and the sounds as you grab your backpack and even the use of the tools. The sounds enhance the experience.

Here are some things I would like to see in the future: Firstly, an option for both sitting and standing players. Not everyone can stand for long periods, and some have medical conditions that require them to sit. Secondly, more locations. Adding more varied scenes would be amazing, such as a circus or theme park crime scene. Thirdly, improved physics for the bodies. While the bodies can be pulled and dragged, adding different weights to the bodies would enhance the experience. Finally, more Wiped Clean! I can see this becoming a series.

Wiped Clean gives us the chance to experience the out of normal and allows us to just get involved in the story. It may not be for everyone due to its focus, and that is fine. Everyone is going to enjoy different things, and that is what makes each of interesting. As we each follow what lights us up, let’s also look out for one another: check in, stick together when it matters, and speak up if something feels off. When we keep kindness and awareness switched on, we turn great moments into safe memories—so the night ends with smiles, and to make sure that we do not end in anything resembling a crime scene. Celebrate each other’s joys, make space for every vibe, and remember that having each other’s backs is what makes all of it shine brighter.

Wiped Clean is out now for Meta Quest 3, 3S, & Pro on the Meta Store and for PC VR on Steam. A review code was provided.
