Could More VR Movie And T.V. Tie-Ins Be Coming To Virtual Reality?

January 27, 2020 ·

When you have a movie such as Frozen and Frozen 2 shattering some records at the box office, some might wonder what could be next? Is there a way to bring that experience home where anyone with a Virtual Reality headset is able to experience the next leap in the experience? Well, we have already seen some movie and game tie-ins with the help of services such as YouTube and VeeR, and even the experiences on PlayStation VR with movie and T.V. show tie-ins such as Spider-Man, Stranger Things, and even Kingdom Hearts 3. It allows us to get more out of these worlds in ways that could not really be experienced in a normal 2D platform. But what if there was a way to experience the movies in the way directors have always envisioned them with the help of Virtual Reality? Back at the debut of Frozen 2, there were only a select few that were able to see that Disney is testing with the short tale called MYTH: A Frozen Tale, a retelling of sorts inside the universe of Frozen that is less about dialogue and more about inviting you into its world.

But think about this even more. Just now how there is an option to go to the movies and see the regular version of a film, you can elect to spend more to see it in 3D, XD, and even Imax. But what if there were options to see unlike being able to see to stream the movie and not face the crowds, but being able to pay more to experience the movie as if you were right there in the action via Virtual Reality? What if there was even another option where the choices you made help determine the outcome of the experience? Would you welcome these newer ways even if it meant you had to pay more, but ultimately, the action was put around you? This is the path that we are in for Virtual Reality, the question is how farF are you willing to go for the experience even if it was to put you right in the action of let’s say a Saw movie or in Resident Evil 7? I for one say let companies like Disney continue to develop and test the waters as its the escape we are always looking for.
