Patents can be an exciting thing as we get to see what the possibilities could be even if they do not always come true. But it looks like, with the release of the PS5 and the haptic feedback of the new DualSense controller, some things could be very interesting with a new PlayStation VR headset. First discovered by Let’s Go Digital, the patent would shows if the headset is worn correctly by using a sensor or a type of pressure and would possibly display a message to let you be aware. But the more interesting idea is that if haptic is used in the headset, how much more immersive gameplay can be. What if you were in a game that had a tornado and having the sense of rain or other aspects or what about a game where you could “feel” getting hit in the head?
It really is interesting how far the immersion could actually go. But before we get all excited that this is in fact, for the PlayStation VR 2, keep in mind that this patent was originally filed on September 30, 2016 which is right before the PlayStation VR headset launched. But it’s also interesting that this patent would be filed in 2016 only to be revealed now right after the launch of the PS5. Makes you think what actually could be coming our way.
I cannot wait for the PlayStation VR 2. I am really enjoying your site.
It’s going to be a great headset and I am glad you are enjoying the site.
