It Looks Like The Top Selling VR Headset Is…

April 2, 2021 ·

There is quite a selection when it comes to the VR headset of choice for many. You have PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift S, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive Cosmos, The Vive, Vive Pro, the original Oculus Rift or Oculus Quest, or a Windows Mixed Reality like the Samsung Odyssey or Odyssey + just to name a few. But for the longest time, the number one spot was held by Sony’s PlayStation VR with still a strong following and sales are still doing quite well with over 5 million PSVR units that have sold since 2016. That’s a huge number. But let’s look at the Oculus Quest 2. It released in October of 2020 and in the first 3 months sold over a million units. That’s a very impressive number just in less than 3 months, Q4, of 2020 that it went on sale. I am sure it has to do with the technology of being wireless, the impressive specs, and the price point ($299 for the 64 gig version and $399 for the 256 gig version) that was $100 less than what the original Oculus Quest 1 sold for.

We know that Facebook and Oculus are working on the Oculus 3 and 4, but we also know that manufactures are working on new headsets as well including Sony with their upcoming PlayStation VR 2. So this is an awesome time for all the VR gamers and enthusiasts out there as that means as technology advances, our experiences can only get better with time.
