With 2021 getting to be close to half over, more information about Sony’s PlayStation VR 2 headset seems to the talk and for good reason as it will be a very big step over the PlayStation VR current headset. Along with new controllers that will actually have thumbsticks, but the resolution will be better with 4K (4000×2080 pixels which are 2000×2040 for each eye). But when you add vibration to be able to feel certain aspects in VR, this is going to be a good thing and should make the experience even more immersive. But there is also word of lens separation adjustment with a dial and even eye-tracking for foveated rendering which allows for the reduction of the rendering workload. Add that to the cameras that will be on the headset itself (think Rift S) which then will be able to track the new controllers which should make for a much more enjoyable tracking experience as there will no longer be just one camera.
So if we take what we have here plus the recent reports of a new PS5 console with 6nm AMD chip that is rumored to come out in 2022, it will be very interesting to see what the entire PSVR 2 experience will be like.
