Not only has Sony just revealed how great of their sales of PlayStation 4 systems, games, active users, and PS Plus Subscribers, but they also revealed the total amount of sales for PlayStation VR. Let’s look at the numbers for a moment.
- 1.15 Billion PlayStation 4 games sold.
- 106 Million PlayStation 4 systems sold.
- 103 Million active PlayStation users.
- 38.8 Million PS Plus Subscribers.
Those are some very impressive numbers to begin with, but what is interesting is that when it came to PlayStation VR units, the number was surprising as well.
- 5 Million PlayStation VR units sold.
5 Million PlayStation VR units sold. Think about that for a moment. Virtual Reality has been a round for a while and for the most part, you had to have the cost of the VR unit and the PC/Laptop to even be able to run Virtual Reality. But when Sony announced Project Morpheus, there was something special that was happening. It was an opportunity to get Virtual Reality into the homes as many players as possible with the cost (not at first) that everyone could possibly afford. I for one think that Sony has done an amazing job with PlayStation VR and the numbers do not lie. And when you add the fact that PlayStation VR will be compatible with PlayStation 5, it just makes you appreciate the level of gaming that we have. That is until PlayStation VR 2 comes and takes things to the next level of gaming.
