With a powerful device like the Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest, Facebook wants to make your stay in Virtual Reality that much more convenient. We already have hand tracking so we don’t have to use controllers, but now you can use your voice for commanding your time in your Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 headsets. All you have to do to use the quick commands is just say “Hey Facebook” and the commands such as “Who’s online?”, “Open Library” or even “Take a photo” without having to go through menus and just doing it on the go as it should be. But you will need to set up a few things, but they are pretty easy.
To turn on Voice Commands, do the following:
- Press on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
- Select .
- From the Quick Actions menu, select .
- Select Start Setup.
- Choose between Continue Setup and Set Up Later. You can always manage this option later in Settings.
- Select Enable Shortcut or Not Now. This shortcut allows you to double press the Oculus button to initiate a voice command. You can choose to skip this shortcut, or manage this feature in Settings > Device > Voice Commands.
Using Voice Commands, do the following:
- If you set up the Voice Commands shortcut, press twice and skip to step 4, otherwise press on your right Touch controller to pull up your Universal Menu.
- Select .
- From the Quick Actions menu, select .
- You’ll be prompted to give a voice command. If you’re unsure of what to do, try “What can I say?” to see a list of supported commands.
- Try a voice command, like “What time is it?” or “Show me Store.”
Using Voice Commands with “Hey Facebook”, do the following:
1.When you log in with your Facebook account, you may have the option to enable the “Hey Facebook” wake word. Enabling “Hey Facebook” will allow you to activate Voice Commands on your Quest 2 device.
To opt in and begin using “Hey Facebook”:
- Press on your right Touch conroller to pull up your Universal Menu.
- Select , then select Experimental Features.
- Turn on “Hey Facebook”.
Enabling “Hey Facebook” may affect the performance of some apps. If in-app performance is affected, “Hey Facebook” will turn off automatically and you’ll receive a notification. “Hey Facebook” will still be available in Home.
To see the Recent Voice Commands, do the following:
A record of phrases spoken while using Voice Commands can be viewed from the Oculus app on your mobile phone.
To see recent voice commands:
- From your mobile device, open the Oculus app.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Voice Activity.
To delete the list of commands spoken:
- From Voice Activity, tap Clear All.
- Tap OK to confirm you want to delete the list of commands.
