It’s always good to see a game that we enjoy and those that helped bring the idea to the creation to life succeed and reach certain milestones during its journey. The game in question is Among Us VR and the teams that helped make this happen are Innersloth, Schell Games, and Robot Teddy. Together they helped bring a game that was non-VR into what many feel just very well may be the greatest form that one could experience it in. When the game was released on November 10, 2022, players got to experience being the crew member or the killer, but all had fun blaming and trying to vote for those they believed to be the ones responsible in some of the most hilarious interactions in space. But with over a million units sold, the breakdown is quite impressive:
- The game has been played more than 4 million times
- On average, 44,000 matches are held per day
- More than 89,100,000 minutes have been dedicated to tasks, sabotages, and betrayal
- Crewmates are joining the Skeld II from across the globe, representing 122 different countries
Victoria Tran, Community Direct for Innersloth, had this to say:
“It’s been awesome to see the community’s response to Among Us VR, and we’re so grateful to have reached this milestone so quickly, from the number of minutes played to countries represented by the playerbase, we love that the community is engaged and growing.”
Co-Director, Strategic Partnership of Robot Teddy, Michael Flutter, had this to say:
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone, and doing so in less than 10 weeks is a victory for all the cross-company work that went into bringing an award-winning game to VR audiences. We’re so grateful for the partnership and camaraderie that our teams exhibit, and we’re excited to continue making the VR adaptation the very best it can be.”
And Jennifer Rabbitt, Lead Producer for Among Us VR and Senior Producer at Schell Games, had this to say:
“Crewmates, we hear you. Please keep the feedback coming. In the meantime, we can’t thank you enough for the time and enthusiasm you all have invested in Among Us VR. We’re working hard to implement the features the community wants the most, and we can’t wait to show you what’s in store for 2023.”
So it just goes to show that when everyone works together on something that everyone enjoys, from the feedback to the creation, everyone can benefit.
Among Us VR is available on Meta Quest Store, Rift, and Steam stores and with 2023 already starting out to be a good year and with PlayStation VR2 releasing, who knows where Among Us VR may show up next?
Until then…please enjoy…
