One of the beloved entries into the Resident Evil series has been Resident Evil 4. Coming from the original Nintendo Game Cube and playing as Leon S. Kennedy as you were sent to a village to try and rescue the president’s daughter, we finally got to reunite with Ada Wong. Over the years, we have seen the game on different platforms with each release trying to bring something new to the table. A recent announcement about the game coming to Oculus Quest 2 came out of nowhere. But with the recent Oculus Gaming Showcase, it looks like we got more information about the game. You will be playing from Leon’s first-person perspective and that means that new ways of how to play will also change. There will not be a menu to change out weapons. Instead, you will be able to switch them off of your body and wield separate weapons in each hand which is a nice bonus.
There will be added support for teleportation, room-scale movement, and even play seated so you get to play and explore how you like. Also, new textures (over 4,500 of them) have either been repainted or have an increase in the resolution which is going to make your eyes very happy. Along with the character animations that you have known to love will be converted to Unreal Engine 4 and all the cutscenes will be in their original format. Resident Evil 4 for the Oculus Quest 2 is turning out to be the ultimate edition and that is a very good thing and cannot wait to experience it when it comes out later in 2021.
Until then…please enjoy…
