We are coming up to the six-year anniversary of PlayStation VR which will be on October 13, 2022. I still remember the first time all the PlayStation VR news was starting to come around from what the overall headset would have looked like to a little bit of what we could all expect. And while the PlayStation VR ride has been and continues to be a fantastic one, we are on the brink of PlayStation VR2. Now, we have already seen what the headset will look like when it was announced in February 2022, we now get to have a better perspective of what the user experience will be like.
For one, you will be able to broadcast yourself while playing. Now, the PlayStation VR2 headset does have cameras for tracking purposes, in order to broadcast yourself while playing, you will need to connect a PS5 HD Camera to the PS5. No word yet on what the camera will cost.
Your play area can be customized using the embedded cameras and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. For those that are familiar with the Guardian setup for Quest/2, you will be able to draw your play area based on your space.
Along with customizing your play area, there will also be a see-through view to check out your controllers by clicking the function button or by using the card in the Control Center.
Then we have the Cinematic Mode and VR Modes. If you select Cinematic Mode, you can view the PS5 system and UI, along with non-VR game and media content on a 1920×1080 HDR with 24/60Hz and also a 120Hz frame rate virtual cinema screen. For the VR mode, you will be able to enjoy all your VR game content in a 360 view in a 4000 x 2040 HDR with a 90Hz/120Hz frame rate video format.
The PlayStation VR2 revolution is getting close and hopefully, we won’t have to wait too much longer for a release date and price.
