Neptune Flux – The Interview

October 8, 2019 ·

Neptune Flux is just one week away for release on the PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4. This underwater adventure will have you submerged in a one-person sub all the while to discover the secrets that need to be solved to uncover the mysteries. I reached out to Zoxide Games to get some of their inspirations and to ask some questions about the game and their thoughts in general.

Neptune Flux Nick-2017 PSVR

Nick Pettit is the one person team from Zoxide Games and was happy to help answer some questions and some of his thoughts on VR.

What are some of the major influences for Neptune Flux?

“I was influenced by games like Myst, Gone Home, and Firewatch. I wanted to create an experience that would be elevated by the immersive nature of VR, and the idea of telling a story in an isolated setting was appealing to me.”

How was it working with the PSVR headset compared to others?

“I like the “plug-and-play” nature of PS VR. It requires a lot less setup and technical knowledge than other comparable VR headsets. It encouraged me to pursue more elegant design decisions, like the ability to switch between VR and normal TV play at any time.”

In working with the PSVR headset, what do you think should be improved on, in your opinion to make it a better product?

“VR is still in its early days, so there’s plenty of room for improvement. As a developer, I want more resolution out of the headsets so that players can see more detail.”

What are some of your favorite VR titles that you enjoy, that you would love or at least know about that would be great on PSVR?

“My favorite VR titles aren’t really games at all. I like creative tools like Tilt Brush or Google Blocks. I’d love to see more of that on any VR platform.”

If someone just got into VR with PSVR and searching the catalog of titles, why would you suggest to pick up Neptune Flux that would make it stand out?

“Neptune Flux is a very immersive and relaxed adventure game that can be played in about 2 hours. If you’re a busy person and just want to escape for a few hours, this is for you.”

Are there any future PSVR games or experiences that Zoxide Games is working on or that can be shared at this time?

“I’m always working on prototypes and new ideas. Nothing to share just yet though!”

I want to thank Nick Pettit of Zoxide Games for the interview and thank him for this hard work and dedication. Submerge with the adventure of Neptune Flux when it comes out on August the 8th for both the PlayStation VR and PlayStation 4.
