Think about the brain and how science is trying to fully understand this complex organ of the human body. It controls everything from speech to memory to movements. When there is a happy time, that image to that moment is stored to times when they may not be so bad or even traumatic, hidden in a way to protect. It really is amazing what the brain can do. But what if you connect your mind, read a person’s mind, or even interact with your mind all within Virtual Reality? By using EEG sensors, the company LooxidLabs has come up with the Looxid Link that can detect your brainwave signals that attach to the VR headset that would stream the data at 500 samples per second to your computer. Then using that data that would integrate the signals into the VR content. By doing this, information about attention, relaxation, and brain balance could all be used to help with therapy and health research.
But there are other abilities that your brain can be used for with the Looxid Link. How about being immersed in a world where you would need to master pyrokinesis and train your brain to create fireballs to defeat a dragon. Or how about using meditation to help you have a relaxed state of mind? This is just another way that science can be used with Virtual Reality in ways we never thought possible.
The device already works with the HTC Vive, Vive Pro, and Vive Pro Eye and will soon be on its way for the Oculus Rift S via a modified EEG-equipped add-on attachment. Right now the pricing for the HTC Vive add-on is $299. and more information for the Oculus Rift S will be released soon.
Until then…please enjoy…
